Reed’s Yoga for Athletes program will allow athletes to give their entire body a stretching and relaxing body massage that will transform them mentally, physically & Emotionally. We offer a free scheduled class for athletes to experience this transformation. Reed’s Academy wanted to make sure that we had experienced instructors that are familiar with the primary goals of this program. Our lead Instructor is Ambrosia Hand.
Ambrosia is an experienced, registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT 200, RYT 500) and registered Continuing Education Provider (YCEP) with Yoga Alliance. She completed her 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training with Sheila Palmquist under the lineage of the Himayalan Institute in 2014 and her advanced 300 Hour Yoga Teacher Training in Edmonton, Alberta with Michele Theoret of Empowered Yoga & Mindfulness from 2018-2019. Ambrosia has completed specialized certification in Yoga for Athletes, Myofascial Release, Meditation, Kids Yoga, and Yoga for Teens, to name a few. With over 1,400 hours of teaching experience, Ambrosia has worked with students of all ages and abilities.
Athletes who have benefited from Ambrosia's Yoga classes include Swimmers, Hockey players, Cyclists, Track & Field, Golfers, Football, Basketball, Baseball Players, Lacrosse, Wrestlers, Cheerleaders and Gymnasts, among others. In addition to her Yoga Teacher Training, Ambrosia has training and experience as a gymnastics coach and she is certified as a Barre Instructor. An athlete herself, Ambrosia participated in Cross Country Running and Track & Field in high school, and has completed a number of Marathons and Half Marathons in her adult life. She enjoys running, cycling, and hiking in addition to yoga as ways to stay fit and healthy. Ambrosia is the proud mother of a competitive gymnast, and the proud wife of an avid swimmer/cyclist. Thus, in her work as a Yoga for Athletes instructor, Ambrosia also brings the perspective of an athlete, coach, parent and supportive partner.
Ambrosia's classes address the needs of athletes by providing opportunities to increase flexibility and range of motion, including strength at end range of motion which is a powerful tool in avoiding injury. In strength training, Ambrosia utilizes techniques to improve conditioning of underused muscles as a way to provide relief to muscles that may be overused in sport-specific training. Classes always end with relaxation techniques to address the stress that student athletes frequently experience. Yoga is a powerful tool for athletes looking to enhance their performance and overall well-being and Ambrosia is honored to be a part of your athletic journey as your Yoga for Athletes Instructor.
