GENERAL INFORMATION
Reed’s Karate Academy was established in 1998 by Master William Lee Reed, who has trained and competed nationally in martial arts for over 30 years. The martial arts should not be considered as a sport, luxury or a privilege. It’s truly “The Way of Life” when taught with the proper concepts, which is Building Character, Family Values, Life Skills, Leadership, Confidence, Self-Discipline, Self-Defense & Fitness…
There are so many different styles of martial arts to choose from, but choosing the style of choice is not the challenge of martial arts. It’s choosing a style/system that is committed to the quality of training and moral values over making money. There are far too many karate families paying for programs that are money driven, such as long extended contracts, Leadership clubs that cost money, additional ranks added to prolong a student’s training and contract, Weapons clubs use to entertain under-belt students instead of focusing on building a solid foundation…
This general information is to make sure parents hold their style/systems of choice accountable and not be taken advantage of. There are a lot of families and students that are victims of being hustled, which is why I wanted to share my thoughts and experience. Martial Arts is similar to parenting; a student will not completely understand the true benefits until they have matured enough to appreciate their Mental, Physical & Emotional accomplishments…
Therefore you should investigate your style/systems of choice before committing and always request a “Free Trial”. If offered longer free trial classes are a reasonable/free start up cost beware; this is usually bait to commit you to a long-term contract, with increased fees…
